Our name “Coreathletics” and our tagline of “Life is Athletic…Live It!” Evolve. Many will say that they are not an athlete—we have to disagree! If you look at the CORE of life metaphorically, it strongly models a sporting event. Life is very competitive! We have to be able to move well and think on the run to be very successful. Life is risky. We live most of our present life either in fight or flight mode with minimal seasons of rest. Life gives you successes and failures at times. We must persevere when we are down. We deal with injuries. We are often asked to perform through illness, are sometimes appreciated for our efforts and other times not. 

If you really take the time to reflect on this metaphor you will see the similarities are uncanny. Life is athletic and as we live it, we all have our own story to tell. We as a CORE team encourage you to get in the game and Live It! Live it to the fullest versus just making it through it. Many often wait to enter the game until they feel they are “fit” enough. We strongly encourage you to come as you are.

Training Principles

Injury often occurs when one tries to compensate for loss of power and strength, by putting more unnecessary stress on the body. The body is a 3 link chain: legs, trunk, and arms. The body is only as strong as its weakest link. This link is often the trunk. The trunk or "core" is the main focal point when training for performance. Most movements are dynamic and ballistic. They happen fast. Athletic movements are highly reactive. Athletes are always reacting to the ball, opponent or situation. These movements are explosive and require a high level of force and strength applied quickly. 

 

Here at COREATHLETICS we train our athletes with sport-specific movement pattern that results in injury-free performance. Once the athletes can execute the sport-specific movements efficiently, we train them with resistance to develoP sport-specific strength, speed and power. These principles allow the athletes that train at COREATHLETICS to “train movements not muscles.” Strength that is not functional is wasted.
